Flag of India:

Yesterday, Fraidon and I finished a DLO on the flags of India. We worked on a comparison( Between India & NZ), flags used by India and the 3-color ( with the 24 spoke wheel) in public. This work was hard as we both needed to find flags relevant to India's history

Aquatics:

New Zealand is an island is filled with river and also surrounded by water! If you don’t know how to swim ,you should not go to the deep end of the pool or sea. If you are trapped at sea raise you hand as it a sign of help (it can also help lifeguards find where you are).Getting in trouble is bad if you’re new to NZ (if you're not), you can get stuck in the “rip”. Not knowing how to swim without a floaty boat is bad you could drown. For children(also under 6-), make sure you stay near the shore if you don’t know how to swim, but also be safety first in other areas!

Today, LS2 were working on Aquatics( Water Safety). For lesson 1, I paired with Lyndon to create a paragraph with our knowledge of Water safety. This is my first activity of Aquatics.

Current Events:Euro-Revision 2016

Today, I started doing my reading Can do with doing Current Events. My DLO was based around the backlash of Euro-Vision 2016. If you don't know, Ukraine's Jamala( Susana Jamalaanidova) song about the fall of Soviet Union and the dictator, Joseph Stalin. The article was also about the petition that demanded the host of Eurovision (Swedish Broadcasting Union).

Shoe Narrative

Image result for converse shoes photography
LI: To use the 5 senses and personification to help us paint a picture with words.
“Michael Jordan scores again!” Shouted the announcer. It was a basketball game between Chicago Bulls and Florida Tornadoes. “What happening, Jim! I think MJ putting on his Converses. Someone please stop this man!” The announcer screamed as the fans erupted like a volcano. There I was, my arms stretched together making a rippling sounds to all the other shoes. Loud boos begin to enter my mind. It was like they were screaming at me for doing something wrong. Minutes ago, I was lying in my big apartment with a view of all my friends. Growing old started ascending on me a while ago. I feel like I was aging every second. While people booed I started crying. I don’t why or how, but I sure knew I wasn’t welcomed by other people.  Because I was a old model of a shoe I was no longer liked by other people. Michael Jordan who is the famous basketball player, is my owner and I think he doesn’t like me anymore. When he wears me other people boo and scream. The game was tiring. I smell  sweat as if I had just eaten it an  hour ago, all inside of me and water touch my arms.
Later that night
I was in my owner’s hands when suddenly...
*Boom*
Smoke covers my sight. I guess i’m on my own. An old ugly pair of shoes left between a rock and a hard place. How can I survive this situation?

Today, Daniel and I were working on a story. The story was meant to surround old shoes (the character you are). The story had to the tell the reader what the shoes smelled, taste, touched and saw.

Bias

On Monday, my group for reading were learning about bias. Bias means a  person's point of view or choosing 1 person's point of view over the other. Mrs K showed us two examples showing bias. In one example the point of view was about the choosing of male musicians (involved in symphonies) over female musicians. In the other example, the writer was persuading the reader (or audience) to stop using cell-phones (while driving) by only using one point of view.  These two examples show a different type of bias but are linked because of the one point of view that is shown through out these two examples.

Sub: Paragraph and Word Wall

The soccer players were standing in the subzero weather. The coach was listening to the subliminal messages booming around the stadium. The soccer players were so crazy that their coach had to subdue them by offering them steak and cheese pies. The substitutes emerged, which was strange as they had been submerged for so long in the subterranean entrance. The other team subjugated most of the home fans. Many of the fans came from the subway that day. All the players and coaches were looking at the subtitles on the big screen.

Today, my group and I were working on our third SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar). We were looking for the sub(as a prefix). We used the dictionary to find 23 words starting with sub but also having sub mean below/under. After all that time finding words which fit the word wall. We had to write a paragraph making no sense but having 9 words(underlined) from the word wall. If you don't know what sub means (the word only), the word mean something below/under( example is; Subway). Subway ( not the sandwich)  company) means underway(train gong under).
